The Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022

At Vernham Dean Gillum's C of E Primary School we are very excited to be joining with the village to be celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in May of this year.

It will be such a memorable, historic occasion in the children's lives and we have lots of events planned such as; A piece of Tapestry artwork, which each child will contribute to. A clay mosaic. Our own Platinum Jubilee Bake Off, with each class designing and making an "Elizabeth cake" after researching what the Queen's favourite flavours are. Designing the decorations for the top of the commemorative cake being made by people in the village, with the winning design being decorated on the top and this will then be served at the street party on Sunday 5th June. Dressing up as kings and Queens from different eras and then in red, white, purple and blue.  Finally, we will be having a family picnic on the Burydene, making decorations, invitations for our family and making the sandwiches for the picnic, that will be fit for a Queen! This is linked to our DT projects in school. We will also be developing our sensory garden, creating a wild flower meadow and creating bug hotels in our school grounds to encourage wildlife to visit us-especially the bees!
