Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding.  The Government believes that it is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding is provided to tackle disadvantages so it reaches the pupils who need it most.

Eligibility for the Pupil Premium from 2017 – 2018 will remain for pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last 6 years. A premium is also in place for children in care, those children adopted from care, as well as those whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces, or have done so at any point in the last 3 years. This service premium is designed to address the emotional and social well-being of these pupils and to ensure successful continuity of education if service families move frequently.
