March & April

Monday 27th April 2020

Our Worship theme this half term is Trust and I found this image which I thought reflects trust completely:

Think about someone you really trust- What qualities do they have to make them really trustworthy? Trusting in someone is often something that builds slowly over time, however sometimes trust can be broken for one reason or another and it can take time to rebuild that trust. Can you think of a situation where your trust has been broken? How did it make you feel? Were you able to rebuild the trust and how?

A story from the Bible about trust is when Abraham trust God which is in Genesis 12; 13; 15. Think about how Abraham trusts God and why he trust God. What would you have done if you were Abraham?

Worship Today

Monday 20th April 2020

I know I am a little late as we would normally have our Worship first thing on a Monday morning. I was hoping we would all be back together today but as we are not I thought having a photograph of the school hall and our worship area might be helpful (minus the candles as Rev Trev still has those!)

This half term's Worship theme is Trust and what is poignant is that at this time we have to put our trust, our faith in so many others.

Who can you think of who you are having to put your trust in at the moment? Think about the NHS, the Government, others around us- How do we put our trust in them?

The Bible says; "The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts and my heart exults and with my song I give thanks to him" Psalm 28:7

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend, enjoying the sunshine, spending time with your family and eating chocolate! We still have so much to be thankful for even in these tricky times. Below is the link to a worship you might like to look at with your family to think about being thankful especially at Easter time:

At this time in school we would be thinking about why Christians celebrate Easter and reflecting on the sacrifice that Jesus made for others. At the moment it is quite apt as we are all having to make sacrifices in one way or another in our day to day lives for the sake of ourselves but ultimately for the sake of others.

Reflect on the sacrifices that you are having to make at the moment such as not going to your favourite extra-curricular clubs, school or holidays abroad. How does this make you feel? Do you think that Jesus felt the same as you are feeling?

I have put a link below to the Easter story so you can take some tome to reflect as a family about the meaning of Easter and how it relates to us at this time.

Monday 30th March 2020

During this time of us not being together I wanted to still try and keep a sense of "togetherness" as a school community and although we are not in the same room for Worship I still feel that we can keep this sense of "togetherness remotely. You have already been fantastic at keeping the lines of communication open through emails, class blogs on the website and Year R through Tapestry- so we have already in so many ways reached out to each other which when thinking about spirituality is the door:

So today I would like us to consider the mirror and reflecting on yourself, how special you are in this world,  have a valuable contribution and choices to make.

Use this You Tube link to listen to a story all about "You". Then see if you can write a poem all about you and  put them on your class blog page. It could be an acrostic with the letters of your name, rhyming, non-rhyming it's up to you!

Tuesday 24th March 2020

Morning everybody! Whilst we are not together I will continue to explore Worship themes with you. Today I believe the sun will continue to shine and we can be thankful to God for the world that he has created. thinking about spirituality and our window look outside of your window or go into your garden and draw the most beautiful thing of creation that you can see. Send me your pictures to: adminoffice@vernhamdeangillums.hants.sch.uk and I will put them on this Worship page. I look forward to seeing them!
