Willow Class Self-Portraits

Welcome to Willow Class

We would like to write a little message to say a very warm welcome to our lovely new Reception children and families.

Every year brings a fresh new sparkle of excitement, many moments of wonder and amazement, the growth of confidence and self belief, the sharing of kindness and care, and, without a doubt, adventure and possibilities.

Let the adventure begin together...

  Key Information

In Willow Class we choose one 'special helpers' each day. They lead our class prayer, change the date and weather and are the leader of the line going out for break-time and into the dinner hall. They also have the very important job of ringing the bell for tidy-up time!

Each morning the children get busy as soon as they hang up their coat, this half term the focus is on fine motor activities to encourage a correct pencil grip and letter formation when name writing.

We will be playing and making relationships with friends and learning the rules and routines in class and around school. We are learning our phonic sounds following the Letters and Sounds Programme.

In Maths we will be concentrating on matching and sorting objects as well as looking at patterns before going on to look at the properties of each number. This will all be done alongside learning to count using the counting principles as set out in the White Rose Maths Scheme.

Children to come into school dressed in their P.E. kit on Tuesday.

We will change reading books on Mondays.

Thank you

Wow, we are coming to end of our first half term in Willow class and what a journey we have begun. We are so proud of how well all the children have settled in and adjusting to new routines, new teachers and new friends.

We are coming to the end of Phase 2 phonics and the children have been learning individual sounds, letter recognition and learning to blend and segment for reading - they are all doing very well!

So far we have learned:  s, a, t, p, I, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r

and by the end of this week we will conclude with: h, b, f/ff, l/ll, ss

I will be setting half term learning on Tapestry.

Stay safe and have an enjoyable half term break!
